Upcycled some chopsticks and paper bags today and made christmas cards. A bit early but I´m hoping to sell them at Feira Escandinava on 3-5 November at Clube de Pinheiros here in Sao Paulo. All profit go to the orphanages that the Scandinavian church support.
The 2nd largest clutter after my wardrobe has got to be the kitchen. Half of the stuff just sits in the cupboards and never gets used. Don't even know where all the odd muggs came from. If I think of it carefully all one person really needs to consume 3 meals a day is what you see in the picture below. Perhaps you could mark the stuff with each family members name and just let everyone care for their stuff. It would have to be cleaned straight after each use, but how difficult is that when you have so few items. I realise you must have a few extra sets for guests of course. It´s definitely a space saver! The bowl can be used for hot drinks as well as deserts, soups, rise and noodles in case anyone missed that.
Still working hard on minimising my wardrobe. Sometimes I think I have a lot, sometimes I think I´ve done quite ok. One thing that is really helping is photographing my entire wardrobe. It makes you look at your clothes differently. My idea is to create a virtual wardrobe that will make it easy to mix and match the hopefully quite few items you have. I´m all for nice and simple! So happy I have found this shoe shop. I'd never heard about ciao mao before moving to Brazil. They make such comfortable, cute and smart shoes. Just have a look. You can customise your shoe with lots of accessories so 1 shoe can turn into 3 shoes easily. If you're a little bit handy and you can also make your own accessories. Love the idea of this collection, but it is way to extravagant for my life style. An everyday version of this collection please! Imagine a 10 piece wardrobe for 365 days. Add some shoes and a warm coat. <3Presenting, the Ultra 10 from Ode to Liberty on Vimeo. Here is a list that can be useful when scaling down your wardrobe. It lists the most essential items both for winter and summer. I'm still far from this few items but I'm getting closer.
Making slow progress in my wardrobe. Tried to stick to: Do I love it?, Is it good quality? and Does it fit? But of course I couldn't. I found a whole pile of clothes that I think will fit the criteria after I worked on them a bit. I have a pair of linen trousers and a top with those hippie flared arms and legs. I´ll try and fix them with the no sow method described below. The same thing will work on the top as well.................................I hope. I'll try and give you some before and after pictures tomorrow.
Ok, to day is the day. I know less is more. Now it just has to happen. You could start at any end of you life really, but I find the place I tend to have the most unnecessary things, is in my wardrobe. I saw this video that really inspired me. I don't think I could wear only dresses but she gives some great advice on how to think about your clothes. You have to love the few items you have and quality and fit are vital. Today I will go through my entire wardrobe and pick out the gems according to the criteria Love it, fits well, good quality.
Let's see what I'm left with...... |
